Senate candidate Katie Porter (D-CA) has responded to allegations that her campaign office was a hostile work environment, saying that she expects her staff to work hard and be held accountable.

“I take these allegations seriously and expect people to work hard and be held accountable,” Porter said in a statement. “I am committed to creating a workplace where everyone is respected, valued, and empowered.”

The allegations came to light after a former campaign staffer filed a complaint with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, alleging that Porter’s campaign office was a toxic environment. The complaint accused Porter of creating a hostile work environment and failing to address the issue when it was brought to her attention.

Porter’s response to the allegations has been met with praise from many of her supporters, who have applauded her for taking a stand against toxic workplaces.

“Katie Porter is a leader who is not afraid to take a stand against toxic workplaces and hold people accountable,” said one supporter. “We need more leaders like her in politics.”
